In-depth overview of the Scene feature.
This article refers to Twinkly Generation II Devices, Twinkly PRO and Twinkly Plus
The Scene feature lets you save and recall lighting states across a selected group of Twinkly devices. With Scenes, you can control multiple devices at once with a single action, saving time and ensuring the perfect atmosphere for any occasion.
Why Scenes Are Useful?
Before Scenes, adjusting multiple Twinkly devices required setting each one individually (effects, color, brightness, or simply switching them off). Now you can:
- Define the behavior of a group of devices.
- Save it as a Scene.
- Activate it anytime with just one tap in the app or using a voice assistant
Which voice assistants are compatible with Twinkly Scenes?
Scenes currently work with Amazon Alexa and Google Home.
However, Scenes are not compatible with Homey at this time.
When is the Scene Feature Especially Useful?
- At home: create a cozy reading setup, dim lights for a movie night, set the right mood for dinner, or energize a party with friends.
- Shops or venues: adapt the lighting to different times of day or events.
- Everyday convenience: switch all lights off (or on) at once with a single click or with a voice command.
Why does the Scene Feature Feels Like a “Wow”?
- Save time – manage many devices with one action.
- Personalized lighting – create and recall moods for any occasion.
- Hands-free – activate Scenes through your preferred voice assistant.
- One-tap magic – instantly transforms the mood of an entire room or installation.
How Does the Scene Feature Work and How Can I Activate It?
Activation procedure:
You can access the Scene feature through the Devices section of the app, after selecting the installation you want to manage. Activating a Scene recalls the saved configuration across all selected devices.
Even if some devices are offline or certain effects/playlists were deleted, Twinkly will reproduce the closest possible result.
All custom Scenes (except the two default ones) can also be triggered via voice assistants for hands-free control.
Anyway, default ON and OFF Scenes are not automatically recognized by voice assistants, but they can still be created directly using voice commands.
Default Scenes
A Scene is part of your installation and can involve one or more devices.
Every installation includes 2 default Scenes (not removable):
- Turn all ON
- Turn all OFF
Custom Scenes can include the following states:
- Effect

- Playlist (available on PRO controller TWPRO-1500-ETHP and TWPRO-CTRL-PLC-21 and new generation of Plus TWPLUS-C-4P-23xx and TWPLUS-C-4P-24xx)

The only requirement is that both your smartphone or tablet, and Twinkly devices are connected to the internet. - Each installation can store up to 20 user-defined Scenes.
- Access:
- All installation members can use Scenes.
- Only users with User or Installer roles can create or delete them.
- Device compatibility: All Twinkly devices are supported except Gen I or groups containing Gen I devices.
- Internet connection: Both app and devices must be online.
- Automatic changes:
- If a device in a Scene is removed, it is automatically deleted from that Scene.
- If a Scene has no devices left, it will be automatically removed.
