What’s the best way to manage larger groups?

How to properly manage larger groups of 5 or more devices

Applies to Twinkly Generation I and Generation II devices, Twinkly PRO and Twinkly Plus.

If you want to create and manage a larger group of Twinkly products, of 10 generation II devices or more,  these pieces of information can be useful for you!

Dedicated router

To run properly, the devices in a group need continuous communication between the router and among each other.
This means that a crowded domestic network can’t manage the communication properly, causing issues and slowdowns, and this is why we suggest connecting them to a dedicated router.

So, if you want to install more than 5 Generation I devices or more than 10 Generation II devices, our recommendation is to use a dedicated router.
This tip also applies if your home Wi-Fi network is already very crowded with other connections, or if the router is very far away from the installation: placing a dedicated router closer to your Twinklys will make the performance much better!

Rename your Twinkly

If you have several devices, we suggest renaming each one of them, so that you can easily recognize the one on which you are taking action.

Create an Area Group

If you purchased more than one Twinkly you are probably decorating a wider area.

In this case, switch all the devices off,  then switch on and map them each one at a time, then you can group them together in an Area group.

Important notes:

  • For Generation I: You can group up to 2000 LEDs or 5 devices – with good Wi-Fi coverage

  • For Generation II: You can group up to 4000 LEDs or 10 devices – with good Wi-Fi coverage
