An overview of the different roles a User can play and their features
This article refers to Twinkly Generation II & II, Twinkly PRO anche Twinkly Plus
Each Installation/device on the App has an Owner, who is the user who has created it.To make the experience of having fun with Twinkly even more interactive, starting with version 3.13 of the app, the Owner can invite a new member to share the Installation with.To each user with whom you decide to share your Installation, you will be able to assign a role, so as to also differentiate the various features they will be able to access.
Understanding Ownership Assignment Criteria for Retail Users within Installations
Please keep in mind that the following criteria apply only to devices that were already setup before the update to App version 3.13.
If you create an installation or add a device after upgrading the App to 3.13 versione you will automatically be Owner.
The role of Owner within an Installation for Retail users is determined by a specific set of criteria.
Here's a detailed explanation of how this assignment process works:
Criteria for Owner Assignment:
For Retail users specifically, the Owner role within an Installation is assigned based on the Last User Interaction: The system identifies the user who has interacted with the devices most recently within the last year. Amongst all users, the one with the most recent date of interaction with the devices is designated as the Owner.
Role Assignment:
Owner: The user meeting the criteria outlined above is assigned as the Owner of the Installation.
Installer: All other users associated with the Installation are designated as Installers.
Owner's Authority:
Once assigned, the Owner user has the chance to manage roles within the Installation according to their needs. They can perform actions such as changing roles or transferring ownership as needed to suit the requirements of the Installation
How to share an Installation?
To share an installation with another family member, friend, colleague, or just the person you want to be part of your Twinkly experience, follow these simple steps:
enter the devices area of the App (LEDs icon at the bottom right of the screen)
select the Installation you wish to share from the drop-down menu
click on the gear icon in the upper left to access the Installation details
through the Users menu you can change your role and assign a different one.
click Invite new member to invite another member to participate in managing your Twinkly Installation
enter a email associated with his Twinly account in the space provided, choose the role to give him/her and click on Invite
The user chosen as a member will receive a notification when opening the App through which they can accept the invitation to add the installation to their Twinkly account. To receive the invitation successfully, be sure to open the app from a completely closed state. This means closing the app completely before reopening it. Once invited member will open the App and accept the invitation, the user who shared the installation will be notified, after the new member close or reopen the app, or simply swipe down on the device's page and wait for about ten seconds.
Notification Process:
- Notification Display: Upon sending an invitation, the recipient will only receive a notification when they open the app. If the recipient has already opened the app, they must close it and reopen it to trigger the notification.
Prompt Action: To ensure timely notification reception, recipients should be advised to close and reopen the app if they have it already open at the time of invitation.
Tracking Invitation Status:
Pending Invitations: After sending an invitation, the sender will observe the invitation status as "pending."
Refreshing the Object List: To view the most current status updates, the sender must exit the object list and manually refresh the page. This can be done by swiping down on the screen.
Accessing Installation Details: Once the page is refreshed, the sender can navigate to the installation details to find the updated statuses of the users invited.
Manual Refresh:
- Real-Time Updates: Manual refreshing ensures that the sender receives real-time updates on the status of invited users within installations.
What are the different roles and their features?
Each role has the option of handling certain functions. Basically the following are the 3 different roles and characteristics:
Owner → gets access to all features, including creating and deleting installations
Installer → (by default the Owner is also Installer) = gets access to all the features, but cannot delete the Installation of which he/she is not also the Owner and edit/create new effects
User → ON/OFF - change brightness - change effects among those already stored on the device - apply effects from the gallery - create and edit playlists - rename each individual object (device or group) - activate or create Scene.
Guest → ON/OFF - change brightness - change effects among those already stored on the device - stream effects from the gallery but do not apply them - use existing Scene.
Cannot create and edit playlists - delete saved effects from the tab control and from the Gallery (the trash icon on the long press is not enabled) - rename or delete devices - create and edit colors.Below is the in-depth list of features according to the assigned role:

Special Notes about the White Balance Control Feature for Twinkly Permanent Lights
The White Balance Control feature, exclusively available on Twinkly Permanent Lights, allows users to create and control various shades of white light.
Access to this functionality is limited to users with User or Installer profiles.
However, the use of all colors, whether they are default colors or custom ones created by a user — remains available to all users who have access to the installation and its associated devices.
