Learn more about the main differences between the three ways in which you can create a group: Sync, Join and Area.

When you set up a group of Twinkly devices, the app offers you three different options to find the one that best fits your needs.
Join group
“Join” is a great choice if you want the effects to flow in sequence across your setup.
If your decorations are large and a single string isn't enough, you can group multiple devices together.
This feature allows the effects to be applied one after the other, giving the impression of using a larger, unified display.
Join group can truly extend your Twinkly experience.
All LEDs will act as if they are part of a single device, even though they are not physically connected.
Sync group
The "Sync" group is ideal if you want all your devices to behave in unison.
SYNC groups enable the same effect to be applied to multiple strings at the same time (e.g., two strings of 250 LEDs on either side of a porch).
The effects will be synchronised and look identical, even if the strings are arranged differently.
Just remember that you need to map the devices individually before creating the group.
Area group
The "Area" mode is the best choice for creating larger displays.
It comes with new features that help you tailor the group to your requirements.
When you create the group, the app will prompt you to choose from four different options:
-
Area Editor:
This is one of the most advanced features for customising your group, as you can position your devices in the app just like they are in real life.
You can also adjust the zoom, size, and rotation of your layout.
-
Camera Mapping:
With only the Simple Strategy, you can map your setup directly while creating the group.
-
Vertical:
This option lets you select individual devices from the top (like the top of a tree) to the bottom (the base).
-
Horizontal:
This option allows you to select individual devices from left to right (for setups that spread out horizontally).
