Useful tips and tricks to get the best results from the Mapping process
Applies to Twinkly Generation I and Generation II devices
To help you get the most out of the new mapping flow, we've put together some helpful tips and tricks for each strategy in the Twinkly app’s Simple and 3-Dimensional modes.
General Tips for All Mapping Strategies
Use a Tripod: If you're using ultra-wide or telephoto lenses, it's a good idea to use a tripod for added stability and better image capture. The app will let you know when your phone is stable with a tripod icon.
Understand LED Feedback Colours:
Red: LEDs not detected.
Orange: LEDs detected once.
Green: LEDs detected and can be reconstructed.
Camera Selection: Choose the appropriate camera mode (ultra-wide, wide, or telephoto) based on your setup. Use the guidance pop-ups to help ensure clear captures with each lens.
Specific Mapping Strategy Tips
Simple Mapping (Quick Scan):
This method is perfect for quick 2D layouts. Make sure the area is well-lit and stable while scanning.
Begin scanning by following the circular progress bar on the Start button. You can save or redo the scan depending on the results.
3-Dimensional Mapping:
Fast Cone: A two-step mapping strategy designed for trees or cone objects. It is available for Light Tree, Prelit, Strings, including the Direct Mode connection type.
- 3-D Shape: Frame different sections of your 3D object, ensuring each step overlaps with previously scanned LEDs. Move around the object without missing any areas.
Cone: This is ideal for trees or column-like objects. Make sure to cover the entire object by scanning from various angles.
