Description of the Layout feature on Twinkly App
Applies to Twinkly Generation I and Generation II devices, Twinkly PRO and Twinkly Plus.
What does the Layout of your Twinkly installation mean?
In the Layout section, you can take a look at a preview of your current layout settings.
The Layout is simply the outcome of the mapping process you’ve carried out and a scan of your Twinkly installation. By using the "Map Lights" function key, you can start the mapping process, which is explained step by step in this article,.
While creating your own Layout mapping installation isn't mandatory (except for Squares), it’s a wonderful way to fully enjoy Twinkly technology when applying effects. Additionally, to create an effect in 'Drawing mode', LED mapping is necessary (except for Line and Flex, which have a linear design).
Layout option
If you have already mapped your devices, you will find a perfect track of all the LEDs recognized by the procedure and mapped out in the space, as in the picture below.
Otherwise, you will see the screen to start the mapping process

Layout history (iOS only)
This feature allows you to restore a previously mapped layout.
Use the History option to view the screen with the last 3 layouts listed by date and time:
-
click ‘Restore’
-
click 'History'
-
scroll to the right to see the last 3 layouts in chronological order
-
choose the one you want and
-
press the Restore button
The layout history only covers the last three layouts, so if you create a new layout, the oldest one will be automatically deleted.
Please note that these layouts are stored locally on the phone, so if you use two devices, you will only have the history layouts on one (the one on which the mapping was performed), while if you have mapped with multiple devices (e.g. two different smartphones), you will only be able to see the layouts made with that device, not with the other smartphone or tablet.
Clicking on Default will restore the pre-set layout
How the Layout Editor feature Works?
This feature allows you to make changes to your layout to further match your needs and looks even more great in reproducing effects.
Starting from the layout of your installation you can modify its X, Y and Z coordinates, so that you can flip the installation, rotate it, move it up and down and right and left
Special notes about Group Layout
When you set up a Sync group, you might notice that the "Map lights" function key is missing. This is because you'll need to map the devices one by one before you can create the group.
If you're creating an Area Group (using the Area Editor or Horizontal and Vertical tiles), it's a good idea to map the devices individually first. This will help ensure that the effects are applied correctly; otherwise, they may not show up as intended with the default layouts.
Special note on Linear Installation
For linear installations, mapping isn't always necessary since the effect will naturally progress from the first to the last LED, so there's no need to detect them. If you have a Home range product (Line & Flex), the default layout will be applied if the device isn't mapped.
