How to change the network on my Twinkly device? (Twinkly PRO & Plus)

Step-by-step directions for connecting your Twinkly PRO or Plus to a new wi-fi network

Important: The procedure depends on the type of connection your device is using.

  • In your device is connected via Wi-Fi

This applies to Twinkly Plus and retail (non-PRO) devices.
In this case, the network change process depends on a few scenarios.
Please follow this steps.

 

Changing the Network While Your Device Is Still Online

If your Twinkly is still online and connected, you can easily switch networks by following these steps:

  1. Open the Twinkly app.
  2. Tap the Device Menu (the LED icon in the bottom-right corner).
  3. Select the gear icon next to your device’s name.
  4. Tap Network (at the bottom of the page), and choose the new Wi-Fi network from the available options.

To refresh the list of available networks, simply pull down on the screen to reload.

Otherwise, you can follow the Bluetooth procedure described in the next section.

 

Changing the Network If Your Twinkly Is Offline

If your device is offline (indicated by a gray dot next to the device name in the app, with the status LED flashing blue or red), and you can't reconnect to the old network, follow these steps:

  1. Hold down the controller button until the LED turns solid blue to start the Bluetooth onboarding process.
  2. The app will find the device again, and you’ll be able to connect it to the new Wi-Fi network (make sure your phone is connected to the same network).
  3. When prompted, select the new network and you're all set!

Note: This procedure can also be followed even if the device is still online and and to switch from the Twinkly network to your local network (see also the instructions below)

 

Switching from Twinkly Direct Connection to Your Local Network

If your Twinkly is currently connected to its own Twinkly network and you’d like to switch to your local Wi-Fi to unlock additional features, just follow these easy steps:

  1. Open the Twinkly app and go to the Device Menu.
  2. Select your Twinkly from the list (it should show a green icon). If you don’t see your Twinkly or notice a grey dot next to it, make sure your smartphone is connected to the Twinkly network in your Wi-Fi settings.
  3. Tap the gear icon next to your device name to access the Device Details screen.
  4. Tap Network, scan for available Wi-Fi networks, and select the one you want to connect to.
  5. Enter the Wi-Fi password and click Connect. The process may take up to 30 seconds.

Once connected, you’ll be able to enjoy all the additional features your local network offers.

 

Switching from Local Wi-Fi to Twinkly Direct Mode

If your device is currently connected to a local Wi-Fi network (via a router) and you want to switch it to Twinkly Direct mode, you can do so without deleting the device from the app.

Simply restart the Bluetooth onboarding process, and when prompted to choose the network type, select Direct instead of Wi-Fi.

 

  • If your device is connected via Ethernet (Twinkly Plus & PRO)

If your device is connected via Ethernet, there are two alternative ways to change the network:

Option 1: You can delete the device from the app and add it again after connecting it to the new network.
⚠️ Please note that this will reset the layout, and you’ll need to remap your setup.

Option 2 (recommended): Since the device uses Ethernet, you can simply switch the cable to the new network/router.
Then, restart the app or pull down to refresh the Devices page — the device will come back online with its new IP address.
✅ This way, the layout is preserved and no remapping is needed.
