This article is a brief guide on extending Twinkly products
This asticle refers to Twinkly Generation I & II Devices
From Physical Extension to App-Based Grouping
In the past, certain Generation I Twinkly products supported physical extension by adding extra strings of lights directly to the device. However, with advances in Twinkly’s technology, that method has evolved.
Today, you can create extended lighting effects using two or more separate Twinkly devices connected via the Twinkly app. There are three grouping options available:
-
Sync Group – for perfectly synchronized lighting effects.
-
Join Group – to treat multiple devices as one long light strip.
-
Area Group – to design spatial effects across different zones.
These grouping features allow you to achieve seamless and dynamic lighting designs—without needing to physically connect extra strings.
Power Supply Requirements
Each Twinkly device must be connected to a power outlet using its own power adapter. There is no shared power source between units.
However, you can use a standard extension cord to help power devices located farther from an outlet. Ensuring each device is adequately powered is key to maintaining stable and reliable performance.
Models That Support Physical Extension
As of now, only the following Twinkly products support physical extension:
-
Twinkly Lightwall
-
Twinkly Matrix
-
Twinkly Line
Please note
For Twinkly Line, you can connect a maximum of two units together. This limitation helps maintain optimal performance and ensures the lighting effects function as intended.
Using Extension Cords (Non-Twinkly)
While Twinkly does not offer brand-specific extension cords, you can use regular household extension cords if you need to:
- Extend the distance to a power outlet.
- Position devices in hard-to-reach areas.
This gives you greater flexibility in your setup and enables more creative installations across indoor or outdoor spaces.
